Installation Guide for Linux (Orca)

  1. Download and install Firefox.

  2. Setup Orca.

  3. Set Firefox to be a self voicing application. You can do this by renaming "self_voicing.py" to "Firefox.py" and copying it into "~/.orca/orca-scripts". Or you can just download the zipped "Firefox.py" file here and unzip it into "~/.orca/orca-scripts".

  4. Download the current version of "CLC-4-TTS Suite with Fire Vox - Bundle Pack" from the downloads page.

  5. Start Firefox and go to File, Open File. Then choose the file you just downloaded in the previous step.

  6. Click the "Install Now" button on the window that pops up.

  7. Restart Firefox three times. Congratulations, you've just set up Fire Vox. For a quick start guide to using Fire Vox, visit the Tutorials section.
